If you want to truly study a population you have to study it on the level of the individual. In the case of the 2 species of tamarins at the Los Amigos Biological Station - saddleback and emperor tamarins - this is particularly difficult due to the incredible morphological similarity to each other.
Thus the program was born.
Field Projects International strives hard to handle the animals minimally, compassionately and as efficiently as possible. So much information is gathered that it has resulted in a multi year project of health checks that offer an unprecedented view into the biology of free ranging tamarins.
